i run skip on every thing long and short. hell buying several different chains.
i wouldnt idle any thing to break in. think about a rebuilt car engine, we run it at 2500 for 20 minutes to seat rings and wear in the cam.
i have always broke in a saw makin her pull chips, never had a failure. IMHO idleing or running non loaded is very bad for any two stroke, even a two stroke diesel. they will wet stack and slobber like that. they need load.

I've always taken them out and beat the piss out of them. Don't piss rev it but make it work. Noodling would be perfect. The rings have to seat. I heard not to use synthetic mix oil for the first tanks, too slippery and won't let the rings seat, makes sense and I used to do that but I don't know if it helped. I always had good luck breaking them in like that, just make them pull hard but not scream out of the wood.I gots a question, i haven't broken in a saw in a very long time, i have this new 400 and have about a truckload of large knots and hard wood. all of it will be very knotty. i will have to noodle the stuff down after i cut the chunks off. My question will noodling this knotty stuff hurt the saw. i wouldn't think so but....i know i don't want to piss rev it and cut with a dull chain where it turns a lot of RPM and throws dust. i will have a new chain and bar on it. some of these chunks will take most of the 25 inch bar on it. These big chunks are big forks mostly. i like burning knotty wood, it burns longer. or should i just get out the well broken in 460 and do it.
Super990 boys are ok wih that, bein a lil slow n allDammit. Too slow.

Seems like I may have a tube from Stihl.I need to buy some grease for the gearbox on my Stihl 110 R trimmer/brush cutter. Any recommendations?
Thanks. I was just wondering what works best. I’m sure that the Stihl stuff is satisfactory and money is not an issue.Seems like I may have a tube from Stihl.
Seems like the tube may screw in the hole for the plug. It's been several years since I used it.Thanks. I was just wondering what works best. I’m sure that the Stihl stuff is satisfactory and money is not an issue.
