Question…
I don’t see very much 50 pieces and parts, but I do see more 51 and 55, are the saw parts interchangeable?

Thanks for your help and the info.
51 is mostly the same and 55 has a lot of the same parts too. There's quite a few saws built on that same chassis, 50/51/55, partner 500/5000 and Jred 490/590 for sure and I'm probably missing some

I cobbled together and sold 7, 51 and 55's years back. I didn't see any difference. Some were turbo and some weren't. The 50's were almost the same except had that cheesy choke. If memory serves, the closed port cylinders were the most desirable. The Partner 5000 seemed to be the best source of them. Also, an 028 Stihl piston was a desirable for some reason. compression? There is more than one piston used in the 028. Different bore size. As luck would have, I bought the wrong one.

My friend gave me 24 of these 20 gallon containers

I break saws down and put them in the containers until parts arrive
I can fit 4-6 saws in each one

This is a very ragged out 288 it actually ran while shorting out on the cylinder

It's has some primo work done to it before
The crank and bearings are still good so I'm rebuilding it.

meh..........my ol 61 been on loan for a year........it just came back with the adjuster missing. fuckers.
I bought 12 adjusters for 11.00 shipped from china
No problem's
I have a 61 carcass here a guy on one of the forums
Was selling
I asked him to get a quote I might be interested but get a quote first
he shipped it without telling me then says I owe him 52.00 shipping plus 30.00 for
A 15.00 saw

I responder to a ad for a 266 parts saw.
The guy told me 10x it didnt run rite so parts only.
The wire was missing it insulation and hitting the flywheel intermittently.
Its got a popup now.
Every so often you stumble on a good one. I was at a guy's place buying a saw of some kind, he pulls a Jred out from under the bench, 625, good looking saw. You want this too? Take it, I'm done fucking with it. Yup. He said he had spent a bunch of money at the dealer and they couldn't get it going. Told him the 2 piece ignition was bad and NLA. I took it home and dumped the stale fuel, no filter in the tank. Took the carb apart and it was literally packed full of sawdust, he must have been mixing fuel in a wash tub. I had it running in about 15 minutes.. still have it, ignition is fine.

My neighbor has a 272 and a 288
Neither run they need work
I might trade him a good running chusky 372 for them the chusky's don't have any resale maybe 100-150.00 at best.

Bout a year or so ago i went to my saw shop and asked for a dead 281 etc case.
He said come back at 3pm,,,
I went back, he handed me a complete 281 with 24 b&c, it was lightly scored, i had a 288 top end handy.
the saw is as nice as you will find. cheep as well.

Rebuilt that 288 today

It has a briggs pull start handle so I used a briggs coil wire to fix it

the decomp leaked badly so I plugged it

I think it was mike lee that gave me a hyway piston kit and I put a new am carb on it the only good am 288 carb I've tried
it holds tune and was easy to adjust in wood.
