Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

I'm no gunsmith I only worked on a couple of compact 1911s
The extractors were the issue
I refaced and tensioned them.
After replacing the mags
they worked fine

apparently one guy thought the rounds should feed smoothly into the chamber.
so he bent the extractor
way to far out.
and he nearly ruined the barrel by over polishing it.
my gunsmith friend always said
reliability suffers below commander length slides.

That's what I was anticipating this one being, but when I racked the slide with it empty and it still got stuck I started looking elsewhere.

Anybody wanna guess what decided to quit working today?

For reference, the barrel hood on a factory Colt Combat Commander Series 80. Notice the chamfer and the significantly smaller width.

The chamber throat of this barrel is much more drastically chamfered than that shorty springfield because it's an un ramped (GI style) type. Feed ramp is part of the frame. That shorty springfield has a ramped barrel. That type typically isn't chamfered so much.

Cheap TSC safe. Even cheaper chicom lock. New Lagard/Kaba setup on order.

I almost bought one of those Cannon safes (with that style lock and handle) a few months ago when they were on sale at TSC. 60 gun safe priced at $599 instead of $799.

I meant the chamfer at the corner of the barrel hood. Ejection port side has the corner removed, while the other side doesn’t. ;)
