Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

I had been wondering about compliance. Brownells has some good info specific to the FAL.

That Brownells bit covers it pretty good. The key to understanding 922(r) is counting the total number of imported parts on that list that you have and NOT ending up with more than 10. They don't care how many compliance parts you have..............just how many listed imported parts you have. Where guys fuck up is when they say "how many compliance parts do I need to have?" or "I have 8 compliance parts, I'm fine." If they still have 11 listed imported parts, then it doesn't matter if they have 37 compliance parts.

With a FAL, listed parts include the receiver, the charging handle (called an 'operating rod' in 922r), the barrel, the front handguard, the muzzle device, the gas piston, the pistol grip, the stock, the bolt carrier, the bolt, the lower receiver (called a trigger housing in 922r), the trigger, the sear (which doubles as the disconnector in this design), the hammer, a magazine body, a magazine follower, and a magazine floorplate. Each part is counted individually (so a complete imported mag counts as three and a complete trigger group counts as three). 17 individual parts for the FAL. Again, the Brownells article covers it well.

If a person was to ALWAYS use US made mags, then they could get away with replacing 4 of the listed imported parts with US made parts. That eliminates surplus mags unless you put a US made follower and floorplate into that imported mag body.................meaning you'd need to replace 5 listed imported parts to comply. Ehhhhh,.,.,...., Just be safe and replace 7 imported parts to comply. That way you can use import mags. You have a US made receiver, so that's one. Just gotta do six more. I suggest:

-Gas piston
-Trigger
-Hammer
-Sear
-Pistol Grip
-Muzzle Device

I have an imported (Imbel) receiver, so I needed to replace 7 imported parts. I replaced:

-Gas Piston
-Trigger
-Hammer
-Sear
-Butstock
-Pistol grip
-Muzzle device

I'm a machinist and can make stuff, so just send me your imported parts, and for a small fee I will make exact copies of them. They will be so perfect that you won't be able to tell them from the parts you sent me. I will also melt the imported parts with a blowtorch so there won't be a trace of them left!

I offer low prices and quick turnaround, so don't wait, call now, operators are standing by!
