Good morning thread

Okay folks, I have a buddy that is looking at buying a used wood boiler and he wants to know how long they generally last.

Any of you wood boiler guys care to offer any suggestions on how long they tend to last?

This one has “a small leak that can be patched up.”

It’s a few hours away so he hasn’t seen it. He found it online and asked if I had any info on boilers.
Never had one but I know people that have and my understanding is that once they start leaking, it just keeps going. T1 dated a girl like that.

Bud has one along with our resident #manofaction

Why does he want to boil wood?

It’s Friday morning outside

Happy weekend…?? Happy pre-weekend…??

I’ve never been a Friday or weekend celebratory person so I’m not always sure what to say when Friday arrives, and even if I did know what to say, it would be hard to appear genuine about it

In other boring WoodChuck’r newz…..

Ran a 5k (3.1miles) on the treadmill this am in 27min26sec

Not bad, not bad….

My fastest 3 mile timed run was 17:26. Granted that was close to 20 yrs ago

I’ll never ever do that - that’s beyond impressive

Like far beyond impressive - I’ll be forever envious of that

You did 3 miles in a row at under 6 minutes per mile non stop….??

You understand that’s literally world class marathon numbers…….

I “might” be able to run a 6 minute mile for a total of 2 minutes - but as far as doing that for a whole mile, it just isn’t physically possible for me; perhaps with a lot of intense training after a couple years I could get to that level, but even then I wouldn’t put money on it…..

I think I've ran faster for farther with a pissed off father of a girl I was seeing wielding a shotgun behind me but nobody was timing it

When I was on the Hotshot crew, we had a kid that could run the mile and a half in 6:58. He'd been a champion track runner at a local high school and was one of only 6 people that ran a sub 4:15 mile in high school in Oregon at that time (1993).

We had several guys that ran sub 7:30 1.5 milers. My best time ever was 8:17. No angry dads with shotguns involved.

If anyone is running 3 miles in 18 minutes - they absolutely for a fact have the ability to make world class numbers - world class marathoners are picked from the ‘sub 6 minute mile in a 5K’ category -

Fun fact - most world class runners early on in their running careers were at 6 minutes or slightly less and were not aware of their capability to be world class - it’s mostly about the ability of the world class coaches being able to hand pick who they know just from watching the entry level competitors of all the sub 6 minute runners who will become world class marathon runners

Doing a 5k in sun 6 minutes is certainly very impressive - but doing so in a full marathon (or a longer race) is by far a completely different animal

Anyone under 6 minutes per mile for a 5k (especially one who’s under 30) should absolutely continue to train and hopefully get selected to become a world marathon runner

The world class runners are literally cyborgs - if not even further from that - it’s as if they aren’t human - like some sort of alien species that landed here to let us humans know that all we are is just human….

Kipchoge runs a full marathon in a cunt hair over 2hrs - that is far beyond absolute insanity

His best time is actually under 2hrs but that wasn’t an official marathon for all intensive purposes

Regardless - the dude is faster and better than Mr Roboto

I used to complete my ten mile run in about 62 minutes.

Needless to say that was a long time ago.

I think the 2-hour marathon will be cracked in competition in the next four years or so.

My grandma told me that in school in the 1930's - teachers then were saying it was physically impossible for a human being to run a 4-minute mile. But then we cracked that in the mid-50's.

If Bannister knew the things we know about human anatomy today back then, it’s speculated that he might have run a mile in 3:30 or less…..

Kipchoge is very likely going to do it in this decade of the 20’s - he’s only 38 - it’s definitely possible that the peak of his career will top out in his mid 40’s
