I had considered it for a millisecond. I don't want to know what it would cost for a pickup and 24' gooseneck with 11,000lbs loader.

That seems to be a trouble spot on some splitters and I've wondered how I would address that. I like your idea of leaning the 2x2 to put some tension on it.
I also use lubricating spray wax. Slides nice and keeps the guides from rusting.
It aint exactly "spray wax" but if I do my part, the Doe Beater will make me a sammich.
I’d like to say I use mine often enough for it not to rust. But that just isn’t the case lately. Busy as shit at work and no time to split.

This hydraulic filter jammed me for a few hours. The bottom piece broke off and stayed in the reservior. The filter I had bought wouldn't fit. I wasn't sure the new filter was correct. I had crossed the filter number using information from non-english websites. I mistook the black glue on the bottom of the old filyer for a rubber seal. I finally went fishing with a hook and pulled up the broken off bottom of the filter.

Been there dun that. How about under a car with hot transmission fluid dripping all over me and running down my arm past the elbow? I don't miss them days.

The newer loader arrived today. The pride of ownership didn't last long. The rear wheels aren't driving. Front wheel drive only. I haven't disassembled it yet to figure out whats wrong. I suspect a planetary failure and parts removed to eliminate the noise it would create.
I think that is code for getting fucked.
