The prepper preparedness list thread

Better to have them kinds of muscle operated saws put back, when the grid goes down those electric ones are useless.
3rd world shit holes have electricity, I don't think it will spiral down that far. Maybe a week or two due to a cyber attack or huge ice storm. You always need some pixies to run the fridge and freezer. I need them for heat as I lack the ability to burn wood for here

Sounds as unprepared as it gets. Heat is a basic need.

Well yeah. But I have natural gas instead of a wood shed now. I can also wire up the furnace to the generator easily. As long as the natural gas keeps being pumped. If something happens, what's to say someone won't steal my wood or light the wood shed I don't have anymore on fire?

Agreed. Aside from water, my woodstove is the absolute core of my preps. It's already my primary source of heat. When the power goes out, I can (and often do) cook and brew coffee on it. Not to mention sterilize/heat water, if that became necessary.

What happens in a potential long-term scenario (no electricity)? There will be no natural gas/propane/gasoline/diesel. Are you that close to other people, that they could steal your firewood piece by piece, or even with a wheelbarrow?

P-38 and Swiss Army knife.

I bought ten P-38 and ten P-51 can openers on Amazon a while back. Both of my multitools have can openers on them. Also, I already only use a manual can opener in the kitchen. People forget that their canned goods won't do any good, if the power is out, and they only have an electric can opener.

This house just has a incredibly shitty fireplace. Almost useless for heat. I have a nice stove packed away, That I'd install, and vent threw a window or something. I can go scrounge wood easily, as no one has the capacity to burn it here. You wouldn't believe the amount of wood I've thrown away. Close to other people? I can here someone talking on the cell phone someplace in front of the house currently.
