Not So Pros v3.0

wtf? cant? dont know how? figure it the fuck out. christ, throw out a chain never sharpened??? i grind or file the sob right brand new.

Couple tree service outfits here do same thing. I used to buy chains from one of them $5 for a 84dl RS. He thought I was fucked in the head for filing a brand new chain. Couldn't get it through that they don't cut worth a shit from factory

i matt every red oak i can. we never had a whole lot of really good red oak though.

We have an abundance of nice northern red oak, and black oak. Been selling them for mat logs last couple years. Remember how I contracted to mill years ago? That same mill managed to piss off the timber buyer and all woods crews and they quit. Mill owner has been trying to get a hold of me through my f.i.l. Wanting to offer me a procurement and crew boss job. Of course they want me to cut timber also. Caller ID is a blessing, let that mfr sink

I can't imagine either. There has to be somebody that could sharpen chains for you, but apparently it's more common than you think. It would be a lot cheaper to buy firewood than throw out dull chains

I used to get chains from one stealership by the bucket. He’d rather sell new than sharpen.

Pro tip: everything is better when it’s sold by the bucket

we have plenty, its just they seldom make export grade. even if it does its only gonna be the first log. 40' matts is where its at and i wish i could come across a stand of medium size gum like i used to. same old story, if i aint got it, its paying great, when i do have it the markets shit. who could have ever thought that shitty gum maple and beech would pay more than big pine?
on the reds, even the county guy thinks they have cross bread. he cant tell one from the other either. once in a while i come across a few nice real red oaks.

You sound like a farmer.

Summer is basically here
Bright sunshine and lots of it
Got my KW on the road hauled an excavator for Will, young contractor in town.
Got my Suzuki Carry going as the last of my winter wood is gone.
Going to take the steel down to my Mom and Dads last house. It needs to be raised and a new basement built under it.
Probably do that today and bring my EX 200 back for my lot cleanup and a bit of TLC as the swing gear leaks fluid
I never get to say the words i want it in black, or red or ...
All my vehicles are bought used
My Yellow trucks were parked together too, my black tow truck missed the photo oppKW and Carry.jpgyellow tarucks.jpg

Pine is not a thing here, other than a knotty white yard tree it's rare to see any. Loblolly or ponderosa pine that are mature have been planted and no market. Softest wood we got are sweet gum also kinda rare, and poplar which is super rare for my work radius. Little farther east into my old radius and they grow. I'd like to have 200 acres of straight 30" sweet gum for when the mat market comes back. That stuff is sure fun to fall compared to true hardwood. Especially veneer oak and all the dirt and sediment that settles into the moss and bark down low

sand, inbeded by high winds. some jobs 3 chains a day. just depends if theres a sandy field situated so the north west wind blew into the woods.

Went and got my Hitachi out of retirement, been about 5 years since it was used.
Nothing out of the ordinary all fluids were up except for the swing gear which i expected as it was low the last time i checked it.
A weird issue with the steeper motor for the throttle control took a bit to work around. In the end disconnected it and jammed a piece of wood in the injection pump to hold the throttle open half way and unloaded the steel and loaded the EX200 and came home.
You can see the house behind the truck
Grew up looking at the mountain you see in front of the truck, there is a Sasquatch cave on the top of it.Flew up there one day with a chopper and there was a cave about 6 ft high opening in the ice with dirt all around like something hairy going into it. Pilotsteel at dez.jpg200 resting.jpg200 heading to jct.jpg200 heading to jct 2.jpg asked if we wanted to get out and grab some rocks...No Way
This is at the end of Dezadeash Lake 35 miles from the Junction were we moved to in 1970 from Seattle,it was a great place to grow up.Use stuff i learned there everyday, in a not so pro way
