Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

Because it's decent, inexpensive and our govt is paying laborers not to work rite now.
i like aquilla, its a little dirty. not a problem for any thing i have except the ruger mark, shes a little picky and dont like dirty ammo.
my marlin 25 is the only one i have picked up that will throw the sss 60gr though. most will key hole them. i think its the micro groove but maybe thats in my head.

I prefer Winchester super x in most rimfire applications.

My Ruger 22/45 digests most everything aside from Remington crap

I'm a fan of the Marlin microgroove barrels as well, let one go I wish I hadn't.

Guy on another gunsite was talking about some new remington 22 ammo he just bought that was junk. said half of it would jam and each one sounded different. apparently the new company hasn't changed the old ways of doing things.
I shot about 500-600 so far
Of the new Remington golden bullet's
Had 2 bad primers that's it
Accuracy was good shooting silhouettes
At 110yds
That's acceptable for any .22 imho
The Winchester 333 my friend
Had didn't shoot any better or was anymore reliable
He had more failure's than I did
I'd buy more if I need any.

I miss those grand old gun shops, the walls lined with rifles and shotguns, a dozen yards of glass cases full of handguns, relics, knives, scalps from savages.
A place where you ask for a box of .30 Remington and they ask you what bullet weight you wanted.
You often had a choice between 2 or three examples of the same gun. Buying a used gun? Lets take back to the bench and take a look at it.

I miss them too. The good ones always smelled like pipe smoke and #9.

I visited such a place today. www.ahlmans.com It was an hour into my wanderings there when I thought to snap some pics. Want more Mosins? Got em. Sporterized Arisaka with a LH monte carlo stock (and standard RH bolt)? Gotcha covered. Stuff with bayonets, yup. Old lever guns in obsolete calibers? Sure. New 15K$ trap gun? Certainly. Anything in between? Probably.

Ammo? Short like everywhere, but probably as much as you're gonna find anywhere. I picked up a bag of shot down there, $42 but at least they had some.

Random pics from some of the nooks and crannies.

those shops are gone here. i thought it was just here but i guess there aint many any where. what shops we do have here are strictly tacticool stuff. i have no problem with that stuff but its not my bag and they seem to carry nothing else. ARs pistols and high end shotguns only. you might see two bolt guns and they will have plastic stocks.

There are some small shops still around here, but our VP said she was going to put a ton of taxes and license fees on gun shops before they were put into office. don't think she has done it yet but when it happens they will go out of business. i go to a small shop for muzzel loading stuff. it's in a building in his back yard. all he sells is black powder guns and accessories
