Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

I would like to relocate. But all the places i'd potentially move to are about 20 yrs behind times on wages for a timber cutter. Or they have nothing but small shit thats been highgraded for 100 years
I don't know how old you are
But my brother cut timber and was a climber and ran his own timber company for over 40 years.
He said he wished he would've quit sooner
He's had both knee's and both hips replaced
And both rotator cuffs repaired
It's a rough job.

it can be a war of attrition, that to a certain extent, you will lose

i still say you could just run your own show alone and make just as much on 4-5 loads of nice timber a week. work less, make the same. thats about all i am gonna cut now, i wouldnt make shit just falling for some one else. the only i could would maybe be out west on big timber where one tree might make two loads.

Those are few and far between.
That said, the money is there for falling timber. More if your an LTO, licensed timber operator.
Its usually a 6 hour day, hauling ass, good $.

I'd rather cut 10, 1000 foot trees than 1 10k tree .
Big trees are fun but more work

10 1k trees is good. thats closer to what im doing now, prolly around 700ft average. get down to trees in the 250 average and it work the hell out of an older dude. the knees dont like it. its the walking that gets me now, not the actual saw work.
