Lgs had two in "muddy girl" for 385$
Another brand USA made, I forget the mfg, with alloy lower for 629$
So, what's the best value ar style 22 available?, Iffin I wanted one. What would y'all buy next round or again?
I have heard the Smith Wesson is a good one.
The only ones I’ve handled were the S&W mp15-22. Both needed the ejectors tweaked, same as Jon’s. It’s a 5 minute fix and doesn’t require any special tools. After that they’ve run flawlessly with at least 5 different kinds of ammo.
I put a different trigger in mine just because. The trigger pins are wider than conventional AR15 pins because of the polymer receiver.
I got these, because the boy likes green.
Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22 Non-Rotate Trigger/Hammer Build-A-Kit
Non Rotate Trigger and Hammer Pins designed specifically for the Smith and Wesson M&P15-22. These pins are TOO LONG for regular forged aluminum AR-15 lower receivers and will stick out the side…www.knsprecisioninc.com
Would I purchase again? Without a doubt.
I have a colt like ricks and have shot this s&w of Hayden's a fair amount. Both are great little rifles, the Smith is super light weight while the colt feels to be similar in weight to my 5.56 Ar's. This s&w just happened to be on the rack at lgs as I was there looking for a 10/22 for a bday present. $400 otd vs $325 for a 10/22. Idk what's up with the new Ruger but it didn't feel or look same as my old ones. Maybe just me
Kevin, if I had to chose between the colt and the s&w then the latter wins. Smith breaks down like an AR and is just much more like the bigger brother. The colt has pot metal internals iirc also and the colt isn't really made by colt. I was skeptical of this polymer s&w but even with that factored in it's a better quality than the m4 .22
Just plan on bending the ejector a tad right outta the box
I was thinking of loading some ammo for the 10mm Banshee for hunting deer in the back yard. This zone is pistol and shotgun. Typical shot would be 50 yards. The Banshee barrel length is 8". I'm planning on using a suppressor but am ok if the load is supersonic. First thought is to use heaviest bullet available. I found 240 grain Hornady HP XTP. Just got started looking around on the interwebs and I'm not finding much information. My neighbor has a chrono I can use. I'm hoping to find a load that takes advantage of the 8" barrel vs. shorter pistol barrels.
Anyone got advice? @Eccentric

New NY gun law applicants have to provide social media accounts
A new gun law that goes into effect in New York on Thursday will require applicants for a concealed carry permit to provide a list of social media accounts for the past three years as part of the review process.www.fox5ny.com
At 50 yards, how much difference would it make 180 grain vs 240?
IMO....none
I've keeled doe from treestands with a .40
knotheadOnly issue with the 180gr JHP's out of a 10mm carbine would be lack of penetration (giggity) because of a higher than optimal impact speed. Most 40/10mm jhp's are built for 40sw pistol impact velocities on soft 2-legged critters. At 50yds, they may have slowed down enough to work fine, especially if'n they're not loaded to max 10mm velocities however.
For a hunting JHP, I like the 200gr Hornady XTP's. I'm with my brother Randy here however. The 200gr and 220gr cast truncated flat points are my go to for hunting with a 10mm. I like the 200gr Underwood, Buffalo Bore, HSM, and Grizzly hardcast 10mm loadings, especially with bear and elk being possibilities here.

give me a call sometime
@Dieselfitter have you considered loading the 10mm to 380 velocities, in order to save powder?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...MXIJ7S-irxz--gN30i_N4CsE5Jcbes/htmlview#gid=0Don't get me wrong Tim, I prefer heavier bullets in pistol and rifle also. Get these people a call, they might give you some load data.
