Tim’s payloader and generator BS thread

I've been working on the Schaeff SKS631. It still has the same used battery that was in it when I bought it. New battery terminals, an isolated terminal for jump starting. And, a new cab heater. It had large heater/ac unit jerry rigged behind the seat. Resized_20231214_200135.jpeg

I almost bought an ASV/Terex PT60 trackloader yesterday. It needs an engine and was a pretty good deal. My neighbor has been wanting a loader so I let him buy it.
In other news, I've been helping with under carriage repairs on a friends ASV/Terex RT60. The idlers and boggies run on tappered roller bearings. The inside bearing runs in oil. The outside bearing runs packed in grease. There is a seal between the bearings. ASV cut corners on the bearing pre-load/ adjustment. The problem is, the whole axle assembly spins in the undercarriage frame and wallers out the welded in bushing. I've been setting up the bearings with a spacer so the assembly clamps the frame fully and wont loosen up.Resized_20231223_135058.jpeg

thats a crazy way to do it. i wonder why they complicated so?
I'm not sure why oil for one bearing and grease for the other. I wonder what their reason for the added expense. I see some rusty greased outer bearings and the oiled side bearing seemed fine.
It is time consuming to make them spacers and set pre-load but the axle nut torque with spacers is 300ftlbs vs. 111ftlbs for no spacers. That's a big difference in clamping force. And with no spacer, I think one good bump and it would loosen up.

Neighbor picked up his new trackloader yesterday. It made it off the trailer and into the shop without slinging a connecting rod through the block. We got the engine out and steam cleaned the engine compartment. The 15 years of grime was tough to cut with the steam cleaner.
Today we'll get the new spare engine from the shed and start transferring accessoriesResized_20231229_182431.jpegResized_20231229_194540.jpeg.
