Go to local auctions. Especially the annual consignment junk auctions. I went to one 2 weekends ago and bought a ton of mowers, and various other farm equipment.
Everything I got went cheaper than scrap. All the mowers I got had vertical shaft engines. $25 was the most I paid for riders.

you will prolly have to get a different mounting bracket for the horizontal engine.
yeah you can. it is best if the suction is lower than the bottom of the tank, or at least the fluid level. but i have seen factory rigs higher than Rob.

But seriously, find one in the garbage and clean the air fiter, no reason to spend anything on that shit
