spend too much on a new saw and spend more to make it run like it should?
people fiddled with reed valves, played with that weird stuff between the reeds and the intake ports
on older Macs you could change head gasket thickness or deck the block
exhaust ports might be polished to help deal with the carbon
while you might add a port, you rarely changed the size or shape of the ports
for the most part, a stock "hotrod" saw was pretty close to wringing out that last bean.
