Do any of these things actually work as claimed . Or is it just hype . Have tons of Larch here . They drop their needles every year ,and it seems like all of them land up in my gutters . Getting tired ( and too old ) of climbing ladders to clean them 2 times a year . So, do any of you use these things ?

I put some vinyl ones on my house that I got from menards when we first moved into our house.

Being it’s a old farm house I just can’t get rid of the ice build up in the winter.

When it thawed in the spring and the ice shedded off the roof all my gutters came down.

I gots the cheapo plastic lattice looking juans wif a finer screen glued to the frumunda side ,,,3’ sections ,,slide up unda the shingles n clip to gutter edge ,, same brown color as the gutters . Heavy ice dam years tends to belly them down into the gutter ,,I swap out pieces as ness ,,,they seem to work ok but still require some yearly inspection wif a ladder ,,,I’m slowly removing the oaks that drop onto the roof 1-2 per year ( I think that has made the biggest diff ) . Many years ago I doubled up the gutter attach ment points wif screws and replaced most of the orig alum nail n sleeve units so they can survive the wintahs bettah ! Prolly donate 1-2 hrs / yr fo gutter maint usually in spring !!🤗🤷‍♂️

The short answer is yes.
None of it's fool proof.
Gutter helmet is about as good as it gets. Expensive

Lower your expectations based on the price point you're comfortable with.

Kinda hate to remove the gutters . They’re the one piece gutters that I hung myself 20 + years ago . No leaks ,and heavy ice doesn’t effect them .
But for those of you that have removed them …. Do you have basements ?
As for the type of guard I’m looking at , it’s the stainless mesh type that can be bought at Amazon . Haven’t decided on which one ,if any at all . ( may just pull the gutters ) still weighing options .

that may be what i put on parents houses. we have very years with ice but i cant see how the guards would make a difference.
from what i read, fine screen is what ya want for pine shatts, the other kind will let them through.

I’ve nvr felld oft a ladder ,,,I have ridden a few all the way down tho 🤔🤗🤷‍♂️,,,I gots a 12’ step ladder that leans bout 1.5 foot above the gutters for 75% of the 1st floor ,,the back is all deck so ladder stays pretty stabilized,,2nd floor roof is dormerd out low angle along the back ,,onced I’m up there I can lay down n sniper crawl along the edge an dew any inspection or maint ,,there will come a time when age will prevent me from thatchore ,,,hats why I gots 2 houseape sons 🤗👍😉

I don’t like the washout trough that forms along the drip line of a no gutter roof ,,, and the constant mud splash back against the siding !🤨🙁we don’t have a full basement ,,just a 36-45”crawl space for storage n access to mechanicals ,,stays dry ,,only have 2’ leaders running away from downspouts,,the nutcase blueheelr used to chase chipmunks into em ,,then crunch em closed while ripping oft the house ,,damn near rung his neck when he was caught dragging a 7’downspout n leader across the lawn wif a critter trapped inside 🤨🤨

Yes basement
Still undecided if they are worth the trouble
Some would be 24 ft off the ground.

I have been thinking of large cleaned gravel for the splash line with rubber under
