I was watching a couple videos on red dots on the smith 10mm and the cheap plastic plates that come with the gun breaks and the optic flies off. one hit the guy in the head and cut him open a little. The plates that come with it are flimsy plastic crap. i can see them breaking easy. they were buying a metal plate from somewhere and it worked. dern plate cost 50 bucks. Another example of S&W putting out cheap crap now. along with the cardboard boxes they put the guns in. Caniks comes with 5 or 6 thick metal plates to mount the optic to. guess i'll have to buy a plate before i get the optic. I'll have to find out who made that plate. maybe more than one who does.
Metal plates came with the Taurus. Base is drilled and tapped and then 4 plates to adapt the locating pins on whatever optic you use.
I can’t imagine a plastic plate is a good idea. Plastic and threads don’t usually go well together.
