Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

I have a FAL and CETME I started putting together. I got the FAL barrel installed and timed into the receiver. I had read that someone recommended lead or brass vise jaws to hold the barrel while tightening the barrel and receiver. I call BS. It required hardened steel jaws to hold the barrel. I rolled right out of aluminum, brass and mild steel.
Next, I need to pin the gas block to the barrel and drill the gas post. .308 Win headspace gauges are tracking to arrive Thursday.

Mild steel barrel vice blocks and some powdered rosin worked for mine'z. In a hydraulic a-frame bbl vice.

Had to make a relief cut on the old rec stub to get it offa the bbl first however. It was ON THERE. Dis was back when kits still came wif bbl's..........FBO. Since this was an original milspec bbl (austrian), it timed right on the milspec (Imbel) receiver.

Thinking your new us bbl wasn't timed right. Did you set back the shoulder or just reef 'er on there?

Depending on how she headspaces, you may need a different locking shoulder.

I reefed her on. Adam/jonseredracket brought his used barrel and new DSA receiver over to install. His took about the same amount of effort. Tell me about the powdered rosin.
I'm hoping drill blanks will work for pin gauges. Also hoping material needs removal from locking shoulder and can remove with surface grinder. Probaley not likley. Main focus is next step, gas block.

Brownells used to sell it. We have a large Brownells can of it at work. Looks like they don't anymore.

This is what I use. The Brownells stuff is very fine and consistent. The cheap amazon stuff is definitely a 'mixed bag'. Goes from dust to big chunks. The more expensive 'boutique' stuff on amazon intended for hippy chewing gum and stuff is likely more consistent. You just use a teaspoon or two at a time, so it doesn't really matter. Shit is MESSY however.

You're better off figuring out what corrections (if any) that you need and obtaining the correct locking shoulder. How exact are you with your surface grinder? You may only need to make a change of a thou or two. Also, you need to match/maintain the angle on the locking surface correctly or she won't run right. Yer a wizzard (except for your taste in 'trucks') so all this shouldn't be an issue however.

Vietnam vet neighbor wants me to look at all his guns
To see if I want any.
He's going to sell them all he says I don't know why it's not a financial issue.
I'm taking him shooting tomorrow at the range to line up a trs25 on a rifle for him
I'll try to get him to keep them.

Brownell’s went to shit as soon as they started competing with their clientele.

Nice piece. Replace the hand model. what yard line were you blasting from?
Just 10 yard's I'm old

Shield plus at 10 yard's
That scar on my thumb was from 1977 I was shaving cedar for mom's chest of drawers it was a old people thing
With dads ungodly sharp case xx
I quickly found out what bones look like.
Dad shoved spider web into it
It healed in no time.

My friend was sick so I ran his range
A guy bought this today

Cz p10f that's a nice pistol great trigger, ergonomics and accuracy.
Oddly he being an engineer he didn't believe in crimping his reloads
And the gun wouldn't run the 4 different loads he brought.
I shot mine through it that 11.00 lee factory crimp die is worth every penny
I had no issues.
