A friend gave me a half full 5 gallon pail of Texaco 904 grease. It's a calcium soap base with graphite. He must've got it from work when he worked for the railroad. It's used on rails at the turns.
I've been using it in the internals of my firearms. It's blacker than tobies ass with graphite. The consistency falls between gravy and pudding. Kinda like an oil that stays where I put it. Dip a tooth pick in it and apply a drop or two and its good.
When I was a youngster, I worked a few years for Norfolk Southern Railway, in VA. I remember using that Texaco stuff constantly. I also think we used a Pennzoil product. There was a grease version, and a liquid version. Both contained a lot of graphite.
