Gun talk or something beside the stupid title i gave it

In my experience, the only .22 bolt guns that'll reliably feed shorts are the tube fed versions. The Marlins are nice. Obviously, they aren't making them right now, but there's still lots of stock floating around. Tube fed bolt guns aren't popular despite their advantages. Dave has a tube fed bolt action Marlin that feeds Super Colibris (which are about .22 short length) fine.

My Pops gave me his blued single six when I was 16. Been the most carried revolver I own.

Unfortunately I ended up with his stainless single to early.
My neighbor asked if I wanted to buy his guns
I said why not give them to his grandchildren
He said I can't trust them to not shoot themselves.
He was serious
So I'll probably end up with them.

Dave, as in, @Ckelp ?

Do you know what model number the Marlin is?

Any recommendations on a bolt-action .22? I'm looking for something in carbine length (kinda like a 10/22), with a wood stock. I'm open to out of production models. The ability to fire shorts would be nice.

I should add: Open sights are an absolute must.

Thanks for the recommendations. Some of them I'd previously ruled out, but a couple-few might be options. Barrel length is a big issue (that's what she said). 20" would be nice, although that can certainly be relative to the action type. Like I said, I want something that's carbine-length. I do really like the Rugers. Especially since I could get the compact version for my kids, and the magazines are interchangeable with my 10/22s. I'm even seeing that there's a mag mod that can be made, to enable the feeding/firing of shorts.

Yep. I talked him into it as he wanted a cheap repeater that feeds Colibris. Can't remember the model #. Should be a 25 variant. His is SS, but they sell a blued tube fed bolt gun as well. Unfortunately, Savage doesn't sell tube fed .22 bolt guns anymore. They have a bazillion different box mag fed .22s however.

The Winchester 1906 and 62 pump guns feed shorts fine (as do the current Rossi copies). My hunnert year old Winchester is Mr Silent Death on skunks, possums, and coons with Aquila Super Colibris.

Bump stocks may be for sale again soon.
