Looks like it was properly sporterized several decades ago. No bubba'ing needed.
This is what the 1917 looked like in original form. Most have been butchered by various bubbas over the last 104 years. Thankfully, Randy's rifle isn't one of them.

The rifle SGT York used was a 1917 Enfield. The movie incorrectly had Gary Cooper firing a 1903 Springfield instead. Both rifles were in service at the time.

Stood up 5 deer stands today. Worst part was the 20 3' deep holes that had to be made with a 12" gas powered auger. I had mentioned that places rent skid steer attachments but it fell on deaf ears.
