Good morning thread

Let’s go muh fuggaz….. 🏃‍♂️

So I get on the treadmill at the gym this morning

Speed walk @ 3.8mph for 3 minutes, then run at 6.2mph for 30 min, then cool down with a speed walk for the last 3 minutes @ 4mph

36 minutes total with 30 of them running at 6mph nonstop - total distance was 3.6 miles

I can run a 5k in 30 minutes - at my age and weight that’s pretty dang slick


I’ve always been a bike rider and enjoyed running but I really hit the cardio stuff hard this past September with the stairmaster and the treadmill - been running or stair climbing almost every day of every month - mid September through mid October I did it for 36 days in a row with no day off

It’s been 4.5 months and my endurance has more than quintupled and my speed/cadence destroys where it was when I ‘started’ in September

These results aren’t THAT surprising as this will happen with any human body that does cardio at this intensity- but I wasn’t expecting this much of a turn out in such a short amount of time - I figured it would be anywhere from 6 months to a year to see half the improvement I’ve experienced already

Of course the exponential growth does slow way down and I’ll hit a wall and level out at some point in 2023 but I’m pretty fascinated with how quickly I ‘bounced back’ - I’m running better and more efficiently than I was in my early 30’s - and it’s all with less effort to boot

I think in any given year of my life I’ve never drank more than a couple dozen alcoholic beverages in a years time

Drinking has never been my forte

I’m all set

I’ll stick to water and black coffee - ocassioally I enjoy grass fed whole milk - THAT stuff is the cat’s meow for sure

I’ll have an occasional adult beverage as I enjoy the taste from time to time but ‘drinking for fun’ or ‘drinking to drink’ or (the worst yet) ‘drinking to get drunk’ are not activities I’ve ever allowed myself to indulge in - nor am I one to put myself around those who choose to do so

I’m a boring person with zero excitement for myself or for anyone else - I go to work, I go home, I run…. that’s quite enough for me 👍
