Brush Cutter

Any of you ever use a brush cutter? I’m talking the weed trimmer style they come with a 4 blade cutter or some have what looks like a circular saw blade.
Any experience good or bad? Any recommendations?

I have a FS250 stihl. it's got many hours using line and blades. it's been a really good one. don't think they make the model anymore though. I've cut 2 inch diameter trees with it and vines and half inch stuff it will eat it up. the heavy line will go right through high grass.

If you get one, be sure to get the full harness to hang it on, the one cheap starp that comes with it will wear you out fast. especially if you run it hours at a time. The harness is comfortable and distributes the weight. also get one with bicycle bars. whole lot easier than that grab handle.

I use one of these at the camp for trimming lanes and briars. They work great but you best not get into it while it's turning. Mine is a 9" diameter and will easily cut 3" branches or saplings. Like Rick I use it on a FS250. I don't like $tihl stuff but that 250 is a fine piece.

I got this thing, it's a pain to sharpen.

This is the cats meow. this sucker is bad to the bone. it will cut small trees too when sharp. not as smoothly as those chainsaw blades. mines pretty dull right now.

These things work good in thick weeds, but not on heavy brush like small trees. the blades can be changed.

I got this thing, it's a pain to sharpen.

Mine was tough to sharpen until I found the dremel stones that fit, now in 5 minutes it's sharp and I don't even take it off to sharpen it.

I used to have one like the lower one that had sharp steel blades that was a cutting sob but they must have outlawed them for safety cause I can't find them now.

i have a 250 as well, no strap on. i used a circular blade, saw chain like teeth. i just file it like a chain. it will cut 3" saplings in a second, 4" ya may have to hit twice. my son just borrowed it, he said its got balls lol.

I have a 27cc kawasaki that i have a stihl circular blade on it. You sharpen it with a chainsaw file. You wind it up, let off the trigger and hit the sapling. Cuts scary fast. And it was enough for what i needed it for. But real clearing saws have anti vibe...

yes sir, a damn good machine. both those 4 mix rigs need a coil now. that 250 started in one pull after sitting 6 months.
