bad Jimmy? it started raining here but really just drizzle so far.
Nah not really. Little over 2" of rain in 16 hrs.. wind is gusty but not terrible. Given we are so dry here its a non-event. Now the coast had a healthy storm surge.... 4' give or take and it hit at high tide.
While I'm bitchin' about gas being $6.70 and food is expensive, the panic being shown in Europe will be off the charts soon.
Very few are prepared, they are out stripping branches off trees in hope to not freeze, most have already spent their savings on food, theft of food and gasoline is rampant
10s of thousands in the streets of many cities, in many countries screaming at their governments for getting them in this predicament.
I'm guessing the situation will degenerate much farther, I wouldn't want to be an elected official over there.
Right extremist groups are coming out of the woodwork, chaos and anarchy, blood and fire.
I'm going to the local car show tomorrow and have hotdogs, a burger or two, stop at the beer garden and enjoy a fine sunny day.

It's been that way in Venezuela for about 30 years now...most people can't even get OTC medicine there.

Okay, I'll order some 10", triple taper wedges. Yes, sometimes against the lean.
Sometimes no lean. Sometimes mild. Often a curved stem, that leans against the back cut, but then bends back towards the face cut, about halfway up. Hinge depth about 1/3. Should it be deeper?
Okay, I'll try that. Removing some bark and sapwood makes sense. I gotta be careful though, as the core is rotten on most of these trees.
Just take yer best guess at lean and saw into it toward the back. If it sits down then ya guessed right, if yer saw ain't pinched at this point then just cut what's left of the back off and step away.
