I own a Huskee splitter that is about 10 years old.
The cylinder is leaking, not a lot but I’m thinking it will just get worse.

How hard is it to change out the packings and the gaskets?

Kit?

looks like that one has the inner ring retention. knock the gland backwards with a brass drift, wire brush the hell out of it, and you should be able to locate the end of the ring. start prying it out from the end using small pick, screw driver etc. you will curse.
once the gland come out it will simply pull apart. clean the barrel and gland, stone off any burrs that may cut the new seals. lube the new piston and gland seals liberally to install. you can use piston ring compressor its it a particularly asinine one that dont want to stay compressed.

Mebe add sum AT-405 Hyd. seal rejuvenater/stop leak additive or Lucas hyd stop leak additive ( not sure ifn Lucas is avail in less than gallon jug size tho?🤷‍♂️I’ve cured quite a few “ seeps” with theses snake oils 👍🤙🏼I am thinkin the Lucas power steering stop leak would work ok in hyd systems and is sold in 16oz bottles ,,,,how much hyd fluid does the splittr hold ??

Thanks Jimmy,
I did not think of that, I’ll look for some PS stopleak. I have no idea how much the tank holds.
I’m going to try and get all my wood split and change out the seals/packings and change the filter and the hyd fluid and change the oil in the engine as well.
