The Husqvarna thread

I get what your saying and I agree. Saw feeds my family, so I am open to new stuff. If I can pack around less weight then I'll try it. But in reality a 395 is no longer viable to keep repairing after a couple years at best. When I come home and shower, eat supper, and then go patch my saws back together for the next day then it's time to get new saws. With everything going new technology I really have no choice but to be open minded.

Ported 395 is where its at for power. I'm running a ported 500i now trying to transition into the "tech"...

Ported 500i ain't nothing to sneeze at I'm telling ya. Fine rig

I understand where you're coming from Jon, and would be forced to run the new shit if I was in your position. Wouldn't be at all happy about it however, and would still be telling anyone that'd listen that the old stuff was better (maybe not from a speed/lightness point of view) because it was simpler, more durable, and easier to work on. Stupid expensive saws that require you to have a dealer work on them are not an improvement. Same thing with automobiles and most everything else. High tech for the sake of high tech is crap.

EPA/Euro standards that force the mfg's to go this route are absolute horse shit, and are the thing that really angers me. The 200 and 300 series saws were used and appreciated by loggers for decades for a reason. Most didn't jump on the stratto/computer/EFI bandwagon until absolutely necessary.............again for good reasons. Hell, the west coast loggers clung to the 288XP instead of the 385/390 until the epa killed it for the US market for the same good reasons.

Got the 266 from kansas
It's a 84
The choke lever was popped out of socket
I fixed it runs good
I'll tear it down and go through everything.
I got a nice 353, it might have been from T1 was a while ago, i just forget, all that i found wrong was the choke lever was out of place.i think i still have that saw, i eventually put a/v bushings in it but nothing else that i can think of except pulled the gasket, its cut a ton of wood over the years.i never go to the woods without it.

Companies think if you make a living with such a product its okay that you have to buy that product again over year after year to make a living with.

Its all just money extraction.

Lead free circuit boards, shortened the lifespan of electronics considerably, good for the environment they said, but really only good for the companies bottom line

It was filthy but had never been rebuilt
A carb kit was done a long time ago.IMG_20210425_101409.jpg
3100 psi pressure washer cleaned it up

The bearings are tight
But the wiring needs some work
It's deteriorated in places.
Getting new seals, carb kit, piston kit and a fuel line

I understand run what's available and practical for the business.
If I had to cut for a living
I'd go carbed and get a few echo 7310s or carbed 462s from the greek.
In reality around here we always packed and used
281/288/394/395s
Before the age of porting and our little tree's.
a good ported 66/72cc now
Would be all we need.
I seldom run my 288s anymore
It's a personal dislike of the thought of being charged 95.00 per
Hour to have a saw repaired.
I'm set for life on saws
And the tor is sending me a 266xpg
For the winter storm rampage.
Like last winter
3 degrees and cutting the roads out suketh.

Here's how to mount a 365/372 wrap to a 268/272IMG_20210616_192721.jpgIMG_20210616_192703.jpgIMG_20210616_195820.jpgIMG_20210616_200527.jpgIMG_20210616_200556.jpg
One of the existing fasteners line's up on the bottom
You have to drill an additional hole.
And just bend the down tube
To fit the recess
It's easier to relieve the bottom corner
To get it to fit.
The two side fasteners line up good.
The brake flag is too close
I'll try some different versions.
