Machine tools and stuff...

This tailstock was with some junk I bought. Anyone got any idea what it might fit? Casting # 10D-6

@Barneyrb @Termitebuffet I see thins is 440 volt. Any recommendations? Is there a cheap VFD that is 440 output? A cheap step up transformer? Or, convert the motor?

Tim, I'm willing to bet the motor is a 240/480 and wired for 480. You may have to change the control power transformer from 480x120 to 240x120 but they are available in dual voltage also.

To answer your question, you can turn single into 3 phase with a VFD but you can't change voltage without a transformer. If you could find a 480 x 240 transformer it would work. You can hook it up backwards and turn 240 into 480 real easy

Buying to keep or sell? There’s a pretty active Sheldon email group.

Sadly, John Knox, who was an actual Sheldon employee (maybe part of their engineering staff?) and was the expert for everything Sheldon suffered a head injury while shoveling snow from his neighbor’s driveway in 2021 and has not recovered as of yet. I believe Mr. Knox is in his mid 80’s.

A friend is wanting something bigger. He has a small SB or Craftsman lathe. If he gets it, you're gonna be the go to guy when we got questions. I know you have a Sheldon. I meant to post this in the NSP thread. oops.

If he gets it I’ll forward the link for that group. It was a yahoo group years ago and migrated to groups.io once they fucked all the yahoo groups. I think all the messages and files were saved. That R-15 is a way nicer/more advanced machine than my 11”. They’re a heck of a nice lathe if in decent condition.
