So the wife wants a AR for Christmas, can’t build one, she will wonder what all these boxes comin in the mail are for…looking for something decent. Not quite jp enterprises or Daniels Defense range. What would you guys recommend?

I remember you and SS saying they were pretty good. We were at Scheels Friday, they had 2 diamondbacks. Prices were less than I thought they would be. Gonna check out a somewhat local place tomorrow. Alex pro firearms. I’m leaning towards something in the 1k range and can always upgrade. Do the diamondbacks have adjustable gas blocks?

Windham weaponry has impressed me
The company was the old bushmaster employees
After the owner sold and restarted the company
I prefer it over my colt 6920
It was only 500.00 when I bought it.

Diamond back has my vote. This latest ar I bought is a Ruger and it's not shabby either
I really like the reduced diameter slender foregrip Ruger offer's I'm buying one
My friends Ruger has about 3k rounds through it very nice rifle
No issues he told me
My great nephew's diamond back is accurate I haven't shot it much though.

What caliber you lookin fer? just a 5.56? does she deer hunt? last few i bought were diamondbacks. they have done what i needed. They are actually built better than my older Colt M-16's. i have hunted with most of mine from deer to hogs to yotes. If she just wants one for plinking then a 223 would be the cheapest to buy ammo for. for now anyway until the dems get thier ban.

She wants a 5.56. Doesn’t rifle hunt for deer…yet. I have a couple rounds for em. Not like u or shotgun though. Because hoarder

What’s wrong with Bear Creek?

All I’ve ever read is that they’re quality control is nonexistent. That’s coming from dealers who have had issues and refuse to sell their stuff any longer. That doesn’t surprise me as they used to direct mail sales flyers to FFL holders all the time, which has never been a good sign in my experience.

I've bought quite a bit from BCA based on ckelp's recommendation, so far I haven't noticed any shortcomings in their products. Guess I'll have to examine them more closely.

I've had a few BCA upper assemblies. No problems other than crappy handguard screws. YMMV.

They use non-pinned gas blocks (at least on the BCA uppers I've seen). You'll want to make sure that the gas block set screws are properly torqued and threadlocked. Dimpling the screw contact points on the barrel is a good idea too. Pinned gas blocks are the best way to go IMHO.

For the most part, adjustable gas blocks aren't needed for the standard military chamberings (5.56N, .308) being fed standard pressure loadings. At my last job I built a LOT of AR308 series rifles in a very non-standard, non-military chambering. The adjustable gas blocks were mandatory for those. Unfortunately, many people aren't very good at tuning a gas system. That was the source of the majority of the warrantee issues I dealt with. A general rule of thumb is that LESS gas is better than more....

Dang, I had't realized that the ICE raid on BCA was three plus years ago. Time flies.
