For the love of God don’t show me your wood

I don’t know what makes em grow where but the canyon where these are at is about 1500ft lower elevation than here at the house, there are also box elder and cottonwood scattered in the same area in addition to some lodge pole and aspen

Eye thought Doug phirr only grew on the coast where the climate is milder. Sure as fuck ain't mild where Stacy is

I falled some DF for a small logging outfit harvesting a timber sale on Carter Mountain last winter/spring. The elevation and constantly slogging through 1-3' deep snow up and down ridges and gullies to get to the 8" DBH and bigger sticks just about did me in. Wasn't making any money at it either.

Lotsa DF, but mostly little stuff 24" DBH and down), as it had been logged before. Certainly not mild there.

Box elder and cottonwood will grow in a paved parking lot

Troof. I don't know box elder (sounds like something Bucketsmeller'd be into), but cottonwoods grow anywhere and everywhere here.

Box elder, commonly known as Manitoba maple around here is the most useless species of tree I know of. Wet and heavy green usually rotten in the core if it's any size, crooked and hard to split, stinks like cat piss when burning, more BTU's in a box of tissue, it grows like a weed here, literally everywhere

The good thing about them is the mushrooms that grow on them
