I was asked for pic's for fucks sake
Having accumilated a shitton of vintage equipments over the years, going into firewooding seemed like something to try.
So i added a feller buncher to my aging fleet.Spent a few years looking kinda sorta for just the right one.
Criteria was, small,no computers, not a piece of crap.
So i locked it in on this one.
Made the deal so i can pick it up in the spring, plus park my truck and lowbed there for a couple weeks so i can road trip through B.C.219 b.jpg219 d.jpg219 f.jpg219 e.jpg219 a.jpg

You should get it ported because 40%.

that aint really small yukon, but should work unless it falls to china.

this will sound dumb since eye have skidders, but they are never here. all this dead ash here has me thinkin on a PTO winch for tractor and i happen to have a 10,000 one off an old army jeep. since my tractor has both 540 and 1000 pto i thinks i can make out with the speed. my concern is........even though i will make the cradle with a blade/beam etc so ya set it down on the ground to winch, is it not gonna put a lot of stress on the top link housing? thats all thats keeping the frame vertical. am i missing sumthing?

Yesterday was get a skidder for free IMG_2181.jpgIMG_2183.jpgIMG_2182.jpgday
PO was unfortunate as a brush pile fire took his skidder out
Been sitting in his yard for a few years and he wanted it gone
I am hoping that i can use the winch on a Cat 518 that i have in my sights as a backup/parts skidder. It was turned into a fuel carrier the winch removed.Same size tires.
I will eventually get a grapple skidder, maybe the one i found this summer if he decides to sell it again. It's about 600 units newer then the fuel carrier.
The rescue went pretty easy,it's nice when your big toys actually benefit what you are trying to do.Having a winch truck is a bonus.

300 or 400 series jack? they have a clark trans right? im thinking the cat winch, even if its a lufkin [clark] will turn backwards. cats pto is a through shaft that spins the same direction as engine rotation. clark pto turns the opposite direction. i ran into that wanting to put a clark winch on an international, it had a through shaft like a cat. i found out allied made those winches for cat with reverse cut gears.
i have a clark winch here, its a bitch we are so far apart. tell me more about the jack. cummins or jimmy?

450 series
It is salvagable,be best for a parts if you had a 450.
453 detroit, full of oil and antifreeze i think it would start with a fuel line and new wires to the starter
Not sure on the trans,it's basicly untouched by the fire, but Thank You for the insite to the winch.
It caught fire on the hydrolic side of things,it would need pumps and all hydrolic lines and valves.
Might be looking for a winch for the 518,actually would like to find a grapple back half for it.
At least the tires are the right size...

lol, you pushed up on trailer with the truck. looks like shit i would do.
Had it winched up to the roller on the back of the truck...
Should of jambed some blocks in the front axle to keep it from flopping around, had the axles on the skidder chained together to keep it straight fir backing up.
I thought i might have a hard time getting the truck over the lip on the trailer but when you can lock all 4 drives together traction is not an issue

meh, i still run some detroits. other than noise, they do as fine as any thing else i ever owned. they start good and are easy on fuel.
the hydraulics are gonna cost unless you have pumps..........those should be just open center gear pumps and valves, so any pump with the right input shaft and mount flange will work. bigger is always better.......faster functions, the excess will just go back to sump.

It's a buncher with a Risley Roto Saw. Unfortunately Risley went out of business so finding some spare parts may be an issue.
hope to get a 518 then all the logging stuff will have the 3304 engine
Bullet proof and cheap on fuel.
518’s are getting hard to find parts for too is what I’ve been told by a few guys that still have them. As far as a buncher vs a hoe chucker/shovel that old girl with a heel and grapple would shovel log just fine after you cut.
