Dezadeash House raising thread

How many jacks are in use to dew the lift ? How is the basement wall anchored to the footings ??
We had 2 20ton air jacks that did most of the lifting
left a couple manual ones on the porch instead of moving them.
In this case the walls had been built on top of the floor which was on the footings, that was the failuer point.
The walls should have been right to footings, with the floor built inside the walls to keep the walls for pushing inwards.
The PWF framing wood and PWF plywood was and is still perfectly fine, absolutely no rot even though nothing was tarred on the outside.
The framing wood is probably better then new as it is all marked Doug Fir

Busy week for both of us and we didn't spend any time till Saturday
Got all the walls out and started on the floor.
Ran into a very soft basement floor once the wood floor was out, almost sunk the Bobcat trying to get the boiler out.
Next plan is to bring in some fill to tighten dez basement open.jpgBasment goodies.jpg up the grade, looks like we will raise the basement floor about a foot to get away from ground water some more.
That means raising the house some more, which is the easy part.
You can see the root cellar under the living room yet

Update
Got the loader and dump truck onsite and hauled the good fill for the basement, Dug out the wet soft ground and filled the basement floor with good fill.
Then got the old root cellar out, and started to dig out the final part of the basement under what is the living room which never had a basement under it,just the root cellar which was totally rotted other than the PWF plywood.
Go pick up a load of basement materiel tomorrow.
Had to build a ramp onto my waste pile as i am running out of room. Reminds me of running the tailings loader when we were gold mining. Build a pile as high as possibleroot celler2.jpgroot celler 3.jpgwaste pile.jpg to save space in the creek bed.
Yesterday started with a flat on the Bobcat, and our gas compressor was in the Junction where we used it to fill up a flat on the 950. But my Dads old homemade compressor in his shop saved the day as it still will make air.

Brothers GF has family visiting so it's been slow progress
One wall completed, almost 1/2 of the walls are built
By next weekend the house will hopefully be sitting on the walls
Then getting the steel out without damaging new walls will be the interesting part.

Pic 1 is the end i dug out for access there was a door into the basement on that end.
Pic 2 Shows the valley which contributed the most water to the demise of the old basement, there was a deck in that corner
Pic 3 is a pouch that was added on years after the house was built.
Pic 4 is the sunroom built for my Mom years after the porch was added
Pic 5 shows the temporary water management system to keep the excavation dryer

Yesterday
Built a 20 ft wall and installed it from the outside with the 950, fine tuned with the bobcat.
Plus a 12 ft wall lifted from the inside.
We have 30 more ft to build till we set it back on the walls and pull the steel out, once the steel is out the floor will be built and the walls finished.
Then some short walls need to be built under the sun-room, we were able to save the foundations for the sun-roomdez basement walls.jpgdez basement wall2.jpgdez basement walls3.jpgdez basement wall3.jpgdez basement wall4.jpg

The sun-room
My brother wanted to tear it off as it was sitting to low to get a beam under.
We came up with a way to lift it so it was saved, my Mom would be happy about that.
I opened up a short wall and we slid a piece of 4 inch square tubing in on top of a couplesunroom lift.jpg beams then cut holes in the floor to run ratchet straps under a bunch of floor joists and around the 4" tubing. it lifted up with no issues once it was freed from the foundations
Where the big beam comes through the wall/floor was where my Mom's favorite roll-top desk sat.
All windows still intact

Well it was a big let down...
The house is now sitting on it's new basement
Plus i designed a way to get the steel out and we removed the two long beams that we had borrowed, my brother was a bit stressed about getting them back to the owner as we had them for 8 weeks.
An ATV trailer provided the easy way to slide them back out.
I got to sit inside the Bobcat as the beam was pulled out, then i caught it as it came off the cross beam and then lowered it down.
Day off the project today, then the other steel comes out and the basement floor will get started.Once the floor is in and walls are closed up the backfill will be next.
Then a few things to seal it up from nature and that will be it for saving the house. Cleanup and next plans for the property as there is a long list that will have to be done to live in it.
Might be us doing the list or we may sell it.house down.jpgbeam roller.jpgbeam roller 2.jpgbeam out.jpgsteel removal 2.jpg

We pulled the last steel out from under the house yesterday, bobcat's last trip inside to support the beam as the 950 pulls it out
Now it's just woodpeckering work to do, build the floor, fill holes in walls, and Mother Nature proof the house.
Then the back fill.
That will probably be it for the year. It's been reclaimed from Mother Nature now so a major cleanout of the house it's self will happen. There are a few gallons of mouse shit to deal withdez steel 15.jpg

Hell of an accomplishment!
Well documented.
Thanks
It was not what i had planned to do for the summer, my brother had a helper lined up but he dissapeared once the work started.
It was a fun project, lots of imaginering
But it was good Karma, as i got very fortunate with my new lot project and got hundreds of loads of free fill which freed up my time. I would have been sitting behind the wheel of a truck for a month or so to accomplish said hundreds of loads of fill.
I know Mom and Dad would have been happy watching us work together to save the house.

The steel beams loaded and leaving
They were delivered in Whitehorse yesterday. I met the next client at 1:30.
He showed up with a Dodge 4X4 and a deck over trailer to pick them up.
Yea under gunned,he went looking for a real trailer.
