Who makes a decently long lasting raker file . Most of the brand name files ( oregon , etc … ) that I have used lately don’t seem to last as long as they used to . I do have some Black Widow brand files that have held up well .
But , they are unavailable now . So , any recommendations ?

Can’t remember when was the last time eye’ve hand filed rakers ?? I think the files I have came from zip penn from early ‘90’s 🤔Sabre brand ?? Normally jus dew em on the grinder ( a lil low/ aggressive) sews ifn a touch-up is requird in the woods they’ll still toss decent chips !🤷‍♂️👍

I do use my USG to do the rakers . But , I use a file ,and progressive depth gauge to do the first couple of rakers ,and set the grinding wheel to that height ,and angle …I also use files to round out the leadin edge of the raker to get a decent profile . OCD … PSP …

Most of my customers have no idea that to sharpen a 20” loop ,,,setup on the cutters to obtain a new edge ,,then swap wheels an measure/setup to lower the rakers ,,,takes me 20-30 minutes an I collect $8-$10 bucks for that svc 🤔🙄,,,obviously I’m not gonna stop wrenchin @ $80/hr to sharpen rockd chains ,,,when I have a bunch todo ,,occasionally I’ll head back out afta dinner an get caught up ifn there’s nothing I need to see on the tube ! I consider it a complimentary service !! Sharpen 5-6 chains a month an it pays the ‘lectric bill 🤷‍♂️🤗
