Compressor

I wish I had a screw compressor.

I have a 10hp 80 gallon and a 5hp 60 gallon in tandem. They were running 8 mins on and 4 mins off. I had a compressor guy come out a little over a year ago to look at what I’m doing because I needed a upgrade.
He claimed we are right on the verge of where a rotary would pay off.
Then I got the quote on a rotary……. We got a 15hp 120 gal instead.

We are installing 4 more robots this week. I know next week I’m going to be kicking myself in the nuts for not biting the bullet and getting a rotary and being done with it.

If nothing else, just for the fact of not having to hear reciprocating compressor’s run.

You need a rotary. The last one I bought went to the asphalt plant to replace a 30 horse 2 stage piston compressor. You can hardly tell its running .An argument could be made that the power savings alone will pay for a rotary, never mind the maintenance .they will usually go 70000 hrs plus with no repairs and I know where one is in an aerospace facility with over 150000that has not been apart.

I change oil in mine every 3 months. Between changes I generally have to add a gallon of oil to top off.

It wasn’t long after we got robots 4 years ago that they don’t care for oil coming through the lines….. Filters were a lifesaver.
