That is all very true, for retail and The service industry. But generally for agriculture we don’t have the luxury of passing on expenses. We get paid what the market is. Sure we’d be willing to up wages so we can retain or get people through the door. But over the last year or two the pork, milk and egg prices have been in the tank.

Many of them likely put much work into their diet and they clearly take care of themselves so there’s definitely discipline and hard work to appreciate there for sure….

Adjusted for inflation the average pay is the same as 1971. Adjusting for what is the cost of a loaf of bread? A house? Everyone is magnitudes poorer now.

When everyone runs out of money and jobs are gone because they closed up shop, shit will get interesting.

I used to climb chairlift towers - when I started out I was doing that for $6.75 an hour and it took me a handful of years to get up to $10 when I turned 21…. Nobody wants to work today, even when the pay is light years better than it used to be, and it’s a compete fucking joke….
